Stamshaw Underpass update

On Thursday 26th March 2026 the Year 4 children from Stamshaw Junior School were invited down to view the completed artwork on the subway leading from Stamshaw to Whale Island and to sign their names on their creation.

Back in October 2025 the School children had Seekers Create artists Steve and Clair visit their classrooms to help inspire them and draw their ideas. They then took away the results to begin the transformation on what is the biggest subway in Portsmouth.

The underpass project, has been sponsored by Colas. Karen and Jane, Sean and Darren from Structures and Alan and Manny, two of the Colas operatives who painted the rainbow-coloured base coat on the walls and ceiling were all invited to come and sign their names onto the subway.
